Super Range Bag Aug 05, 2010
By M. Ross
"Bacchuskitty"
I love this range bag. It is high quality, really well thought out, and a good value. Below are salient points based on my use and experience with this bag:
* Pockets - It's got pockets galore. There are two zippered compartments on either side, which can accommodate one full-size pistol each. One side contains a padded pistol rug, also zippered, and the other side is fully padded. Both compartments are padded on the inner side, protecting them against hard objects in the main compartment. The main compartment has three huge pockets with flaps that secure with Velcro. The inner compartment itself opens wide with a double-zippered flap that also secures with Velcro. There are also additional pockets on the inside of one pistol pocket.
* Convenience - The bag can either be carried by the two handles, which secure together by a flap with Velcro, or by the wide, adjustable shoulder strap which can be removed entirely by releasing two large plastic buckles.
* Quality - The zippers throughout are large and easy to operate, with no binding. They seem heavy and of good quality and have held up through frequent use. The webbing used for the handles and shoulder strap are wide and durable, and they are stitched all the way down the sides of the bag, providing excellent support. Nice! The hasps of the zippers on both pistol pockets, as well as a zippered pocket on the outside of one of the pistol pockets are lockable. That is, both hasps can be secured with a padlock, securing the compartment. The lock rings are large, too, at over 1/4 inch, so a decent sized padlock can be used. Of course, the entire bag can be filched, but it's still a nice touch so one can't simply reach into one of those pockets and lift what's there. Overall, the finish and quality of the bag, the construction, and the materials are quite good.
* Size - This bag measures approx. 16" across, 12" deep, and 10" tall. It is soft-sided, of course, so dimensions may vary depending on how it is stuffed. For me, it will carry two pistols, spare magazines and ammo for both, full muff-style hearing protection for two, safety glasses, rags, sighting binoculars (small), a small cleaning kit, and still have room for snacks. It is a great bag for two, even for an extended stay at the range, or for those singles who bring more than one pistol to the range.
Other thoughts:
The bottom of the bag is padded and strengthened by some sort of fiber board and there are two wide rubber feet that are sewn onto the fabric. The feet aren't tall enough to stand the bag fully off the ground, however, so it'll get wet if you put it down on a wet surface. For those who care, the words 'UNCLE MIKE'S' are embroidered on the lower corner of each side, in white thread. It's rather nicely done, but personally I prefer to de-badge most of my gear and in this case a black permanent marker made for a lower profile. As mentioned, the bag is well-padded in all the right areas; it's good to know that the contents are safe and not being knocked about. Having used this bag for many cycles of loading, unloading, carrying, and temperature extremes no issues have come up either in wear or quality.
For me, the size, price, and utility of this bag are all spot on. Uncle Mike's got this one right!

Nice Design / Construction Quality Lacking Jan 29, 2009
By M. Brendzel I like the design of the bag, but the construction was lacking.
The various pockets are great for keeping tools, ammo, accessories and other kit well organized.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed to have the shoulder strap come apart at the stitching. I don't overload the bag, so it doesn't speak well to the construction quality. Maybe I got a bad one.

Great range bag! Feb 10, 2009
By K. Young I had been considering either between the Blackhawk or 5.11 range bags when I stumbled across this one. Great bag for toting around all your range gear - safety glasses, hearing protection, and holster. It's heavy duty enough to carry two pistols and easily a couple hundred rounds of ammo. The padded pistol case is a nice feature for storing two pistols which can be locked into one of the side pouches.

Less than impressed! Feb 28, 2011
By B. Johnson I bought this bag from another website based on the great reviews here. On the first trip to the range, the plastic clip on the shoulder strap broke. I contacted Bushnell (Bushnell owns the "Uncle Mike's" brand of products), and after a long hold was told to contact the place where I purchased the bag for a replacement. After refusing (since I simply needed a replacement strap) I was told I would have to send the bag in for inspection to see if the break was covered under warranty (huh?). After some more arguing, I got them to let me send just the strap. I thought it was odd that not only were they unable to simply send a new strap, they refused to even sell me a new strap to avoid all the hassle. I will not be buying any more Bushnell products until their customer service (and quality) improves.
Update 1: After paying less than $2 to send the strap back via First Class Mail, I got a postcard telling me it could be an additional 3-4 weeks processing time with a link to their "lab repair" status site, where I went and found that I would have to pay $10 shipping and handling to have a new strap sent to me.

BIG BOLD 'Uncle MIkes' stamp on the bag. Dec 08, 2010
By Rumpledinkhumble This may be a minor issue for some people but I ordered this bag and was disappointed to find that on both sides there is emblazoned in large letters, 'Uncle Mikes.' I wanted a sleek nondescript bag and personally think the Uncle Mikes logo thing looks tacky. I guess what irked me is when I went back to the ad on this page and zoomed in on the photo there is no logo showing at all. This is pretty obviously deceptive, the logo on my bag is on BOTH sides and should be clearly visible in the photo. I wonder if it was photo shopped out or what, not sure. Anyway, word to the wise, if you want an otherwise OK looking bag with a big huge 'Uncle Mikes' logo stamped in white on both sides then you're at the right place.
