nice May 22, 2009
By Robert Hebb just a quick note, if you want this for everyday carry (edc) and you want some flex space for lunch, diapers, a book, uzi, ..... ok maybe not the uzi, then you will want the larger Jumbo versipack. This one has enough room for edc only. my wife carries my fatboy as her purse now. I carry the Jumbo.

Man purse! Apr 26, 2009

"El Jefe"
This is my gym bag. Keys, wallet, gloves, iPod and Kindle (for the recumbent bike) all fit in it perfectly. I also use this for grab and go trips to the store or mall. The small size means I don't have to remove it when I sit in the car. I just rest it on my lap and work the seatbelt under and above it.

One of a Kind Oct 31, 2010
By B. Fischer Great little travel bag or for me, I also use it on a daily basis while doing my errands. It's a bit smaller than I expected but it's incredibly sturdy and durable. I'm able to get my wallet, sunglasses, cell phone, a few snacks and a few other small items in it. No need to take it off; the beauty is you can access everything while still attached to your body. I've been looking for something like this for a long time and this is unmatched with anything else I've come across. I'm very happy with my purchase. Got mine in black by the way.

EDC bag Jun 05, 2011
By Uncle K For me, my Fatboy Versipack has been wonderful. I originally bought this as an EDC bag (Man-Purse) that I could use to carry my weapon if I wasn't able or willing to carry on-body. I have the Maxpedition Universal CCW Holster (Black) and Dual Mag Pouch Insert, Black in the CCW pocket, and their velcro backings almost completely cover the velcro panel in the bag. The only downside about using the Versipack as a primary carry method is that, while it will hold and conceal a full-size handgun (even up to the size of a Glock 20/21) and two magazines, the opening for the "CCW" pocket is too small to get a consistent and smooth draw stroke from a fullsize handgun. This is mainly because the handgun has to be positioned all the way forward in the pocket to allow the Dual Mag Pouch Insert to be attached to the velcro (by comparison, a Sig P239 and two magazines works perfectly in this configuration). To summarize:
Pros: 1) Extremely durable and tough construction. I have been using this bag every day (minus one or two) for a month, and it doesn't even feel broken in yet. 2) The 2 inch wide strap and strap pad are very comfortable (even on bare skin when wearing a non-collared shirt). The strap slides easily through the pad, so the pad stays in place even when the bag moves. 3) There are enough quick-access pockets that you can store your phone, flashlight/knife, or other small, frequently used items outside of the main pocket. 4) The main pocket is large enough to hold a second generation kindle with a leather case (it doesn't seem to fit right, but all of the buckles and draw-cords close completely). I tried using it as a fishing bag, and it easily held a fly reel, 2 medium fly boxes, fly flotant, split shot, and everything else my fly bag (and old vest) used to hold. 5) The CCW pocket is well separated from all other pockets, and is extremely easy to access. The zipper pull is easy to find when the pocket is closed, and can be opened by feel alone. Pulling the zipper moves the bag around when it is empty, but with a weapon in the pocket, the inertia of the bag is more than enough to make the zipper easy to open.
Cons: 1) CCW pocket is small (see above), but functional. 2) The "Cell phone" pocket (if you look at the picture, it is the pocket that is located where the strap attaches to the bag on the right) will not hold a smartphone. I keep mine in the zippered pocket on the left side of the bag. If you don't have a smartphone, that pocket could easily hold a pair of sunglasses. 3) The webbing of the "waist strap" is about 34 inches long. When it is attached to the bag, it would maybe fit someone with a 30 inch waist. It fits just fine around a thigh, but then the bag feels too low, and moves around a lot as you walk. I just took the strap off.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend this to a friend if they wanted a small EDC bag.
Edit: I changed my score from 4 to 5 stars after talking to Maxpedition about the waist strap. They shipped me a longer one at no charge.

Great product, cannot leave home without it! Sep 16, 2010
By Emilio Crosby Excellent product! All the reviews found online were right. No exaggeration, not an undeserved praise. Every part of the Maxpedition Fatboy Versipack serves a purpose and is well placed. Very anatomical, you soon forget you have it on, since it's cushioned exactly where it has to be. I use it for its CCW capabilities with a medium frame S/A, and it is, by far, the best system I've tried, for concealability, ease of reach and deployment, and comfort. Bye-bye untucked loose shirts, self-consciousness when sitting down or standing up, and uncomfortable time while sitting down. Stay away from chicom imitations, not on the same league.
