Giddy over my new skates! Mar 28, 2009

I recently bought skates and roller blades for my kids. As I was teaching them how to do it I remember how much I loved to skate as a kid. I'm 35 and "curvy" and didn't think my ankles could handle roller blades. Plus I love the retro look of these skates. They're exactly like the ones I had as a kid. The only difference is the color of the wheels. These ones are a pale, rosy pink - not the hot, orangy pink in one of the pictures. Also, some pictures show the heel as black, but mine came in the light brown.
I wear a size 9 shoe and ordered an 8 based on the other reviews. I'm glad I did because the 8s are just about perfect, if not still a little big. The wheels don't spin as easily as I remember from 25 years ago which is a good thing for someone like me who wants to take things slow.
The construction is quite sturdy. I was a little concerned about how well they could handle my "curves", but I felt very comfortable on them. I am thrilled with my purchase and plan on spending lots of time skating with the kids both outside around our apartment complex and at the rink once I get used to being that mobile again.

Beware size discrepancies!! Aug 16, 2007
By Laurie Estep We ordered this product in a size 8 and when we received it, it was marked size 8 but it was easily a normal size 10. We had to pay to ship it back and exchange it for a smaller size, when there should have been an advisory that the skates run extremely large. It cost $19 dollars to ship it back for the exchange in addition to the original cost of the skates plus shipping. Other than that the skates are true to the description and are very cute. Therefore the skates actually cost $69 instead of $50 (including shipping).

At first I was considering buying a size smaller because the previous reviews, but something told me to get my regular size because I have wide feet. I'm a size 9 and ordered size 9 skates and they fit perfectly. So if you have wide feet, order your regular size.

I love my skates! Jul 17, 2008
By Shelley M. Malphurs I love my new skates! The wheels aren't quite as orangey-pink as shown; they are more of a pastel pink. AND you may want to order a size or half size smaller than what you wear. I ordered my shoe size, and they are big. But I got some insoles to help them fit, and now I'm good to go. Overall, I'm quite pleased. I had a friend pay the same amount for similar skates at a sporting goods store, and her trucks/bearings are plastic. So these are definitely better skates for the money.
