5Best shades ever!  Dec 05, 2009 By Robin Huggins "Chromenut"
I've not owned many pairs of sunglasses, but that's mainly due to the fact that I was 35 before having lasik surgery and being able to wear a "normal" pair of sunglasses. I've always gravitated to the really top notch shades, like Maui Jims, etc. But I saw these, and was looking for a pair of driving glasses, and this three lens set has a pair, so I thought, "why not", and I gave them a try.

These are by far the best sunglasses I've ever owned. I was a devout Maui Jim owner before these, but never more. Let me give you a couple reasons why:

1. I gotta big head. Yeah, that's right, a big pumpkin on top of my shoulders. I'm 6'2" and 300lbs of good lovin man flesh, and have always had problems with sunglasses putting dents in my temples because my head was just too big. These are perfect for a person with a big melon. I've never had a set that fit better.

2. The three lenses! Wow, that is beyond cool. Very lightly shaded blue-blocker type of lens that's perfect for driving or on the golf course. There's a darker shade of brown that I wear at sunrise or sunset, cuts the glare tremendously. And then my favorites, the gray lenses. All three are polarized, which is perfect for me as I am on the boat all summer, and fly RC airplanes year round. These are fabulous for flying my planes as they cut all the glare and allow me to see my planes clearly, without losing them in the sun or in a cloud.

3. Semi-wrap-around - the lenses extend beyond the edge of your eye and wrap slightly towards your temple. Hot dang! My car's a convertible and with the top down I get horrible dry eyes because of the air flow across my eyes. Not with these babies on!! I also mow the yard with them on as they keep all that dust and dirt out of my eyes. Really a multi-functional pair of shades!!!

4. Price - holy cow, for this price you get in essence three pairs of sunglasses! No way! Oh, I beg to differ, yes way! I highly suggest you be careful when swapping lenses as the frame almost bends double if you're not careful, but swapping the lenses is only seconds to accomplish. And keep that handy lens towel around, it's really great at removing those smudges and finger prints from swapping lenses.

In summary, I find myself wearing these all the time, to the point that often times when I go indoors I forget I have them on. I actually do use all three lenses too, which I was convinced I would never do. This is a steal! These are, in one simple word, brilliant!

PROS: changeable lenses, inexpensive price, high high quality lenses and lense materials, fit and finish.

CONS: really the only one I can think of is the frame when changing lenses. Make sure you follow the instructions, took me several tries to figure it out, as the instructions are somewhat stilted.

3Bolle Vigilante Frames  Jun 11, 2011 By J. Sloan "retired bald eagle"
These are the third pair of Vigilante frames that I have owned over several years. I live in Florida so sunglasses are esential equipment for outdoor activity. I ride a bicycle 40-50 miles a week and play tennis 3-4 times a week. These frames are comfortable, stable and offer a choice of lenses for tennis, golf, or driving/riding. Vision is distortion free with adequate wrap-around and protection. My only complaint is with the durability of the temple pieces and nose clips.

5wow! wow! great sunglasses!  Mar 21, 2010 By Patrick H. Nguyen
It's always been difficult to find a good pair of sunglasses for me because my head is so wide. But these fit just right so if you have a big head, these work great. I didn't do much research on sunglasses before buying these but I saw a lot of athletes wearing Bolle and the reviews were great.

I didn't realize that there's 3 general types of lenses that the Vigilante comes with. This specific model here is more geared for golf which I don't play. Even so, these lenses are just so amazing! I've never had glasses that looked so good! It comes with 3 lenses: 2 types of Eaglevision (shades of brown). one brown is somewhat darker than the other. and 1 type of TNS gun which is polarized for driving. It's like having 3 sets of sunglasses!

I bought these mainly because I bike a lot. and this was one of the first sets that popped up in the search engine.

I definitely plan on buying the Competivision lenses as I do play tennis. I realize that the tennis version of these glasses are more expensive so I think I got lucky and bought these by accident. there's only 2 sets of lenses with the tennis ones. apparently, the tennis lenses are more expensive. I usually don't wear sunglasses for tennis because I thought it made the ball harder to see. but if they work as advertised, they'll definitely be worth it.

If there are negatives, they're minor. one is that the case seems great at first. looks like high quality. has "compartments" for your lenses in addition to your sunglasses. only, it won't fit everything at once. the velcro barely reaches and this is after kind of forcing the issue. the case is just too small. taking out the extra lenses give you a tiny bit extra room.

changing the lens takes a little bit of practice and some bravery, as it seemed like a couple of times it felt like I was close to breaking them. now I feel fairly comfortable with it. but I can imagine wearing out the edges after repeated changing.

And lastly, the way the frame is built, if you use these for biking, you may experience more wind buffeting that you're used to. there are gaps near the top of the lens and combined with the fact that these don't totally wrap around your head, you can really feel the pocket of wind over your eyes. I've never had this major of an effect with other sunglasses.

5Make more putts with these glasses  Jul 31, 2006 By Rikster
These glasses are fantastic! You can see breaks in the greens and angles in the fairways. Whites are also brighter and it's easier to see your ball. They come in a very nice padded case that has a clip on the end to attach to your bag. Until now I was never a big sunglass wearer on the course. These go on at the 1st tee and don't come off till my last putt on the 18th. The instructions on changing the lenses are a little confusing, but once you get the hang of it it's a 10 second process to swap lenses. The case holds the other 2 sets of lenses while the thrid pair are in the frames. This allows you to change lenses as conditions on the course change.

4Great cycling glasses -- Almost perfect  Mar 15, 2011 By Morning Series rider
I had been wanting prescription cycling glasses for a long time. My opthamologist carries only Bolle, and as an avid cyclist himself (in my cycling club!), he owns a pair and recommends them highly. He got me the Rx inserts, which are very easy to snap in and out, and are very secure. He advised me to get the glasses themselves on Amazon.com because the price was the same as his cost!! Thanks for the blow-out deal, Amazon! The glasses are comfortable, feel nice and "contoured" to the face without being too tight or invasive, even with the Rx inserts. The arms are also rubber-coated at the ear-wrap for nice anti-slip. The "rimless" design provides an unobstructed field of vision, which was a specific feature I was looking for. Another must-have feature for me were the small anti-fogging vents at the top by the nose bridge. If one does not wear Rx inserts, removal of the rubber plug in the Rx insert hole will provide even more anti-fogging ventilation! In addition, they look "pro" and cool. The carrying case is also very nice, and they come with a Bolle-branded lens cloth! They would have earned 5 stars from me if it were not for two very small nags that I have: Although it is great that they come with three different shades of lens, a clear lens is not one of them. This is a problem for me because I often ride solo in the very, very early morning -- well before dawn. My opthamologist had to special-order the clear lenses for me, and I am still waiting. The lenses are also not so easy to remove when you want to change them. Other than these two small gripes, I would recommend these highly!
